Charles' passing is such a tragedy. He had a house in Clermont near Orlando and over the past 2 years or so we would get together for reminiscing and catching up on each other's activities. I wish we had had more opportunities to visit. Had that been a reality, perhaps I could have learned of his bout with cancer and said or done something to lessen the struggle he was experiencing. But, as John Greenleaf Whittier wrote so poignantly,

"For all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: 'It might have been'.”

If it would be of any tribute to Charles, his passing serves to redouble my efforts to plumb the depths of the relationships that I currently experience with family and friends and to take nothing for granted.  It also gives me further resolve to let my love for others be readily apparent through both word and deed.

Charles was a very bright, congenial and engaging gentleman; he will be missed deeply.

Sweet, dear Charles. I can see him right this minute as he sauntered down the hall, grinning the whole time. I can't remember ever seeinghim frown. He was a heck of a dancer, too, as I remember. I didn't know him well, but I knew him to be a person of honor and charm. We were blessed to have known him.
