Dr. Clint Fletcher

Services for Dr. Clint Fletcher will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church, with Dr. Tom Sikes and Reverend Lea McCracken officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Fletcher, age 70, of Meridian, MS, died Thursday, November 22, 2012 in Honduras.

Dr. Fletcher served 13 years in the United States Navy as a Lt. Commander, and he also served 11 years in the United States Air Force. While in the Navy, he served on the U.S.S. Orion at Charleston, S.C. where he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Unit Commendation Navy “E” Ribbon from October 1 1976 to September 30, 1977. While in the the Air Force he received the Merit Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, ADF RES Medal, MS War Medal, and Ms LGY Medal. Upon retiring from the Air Force he was promoted to the grade of Colonel and placed on the Mississippi National Guard Retired List effective October 1999. In 1976, prior to service on the U.S.S. Orion, Dr. Fletcher was offered the position of White House Dentist under President Gerald Ford. He was honorably discharged from the Navy along with the Air Force. He served at NAS and Meridian National Guard before setting up a private practice. He retired from North Hills Dental Association.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth C. Fletcher; son, Stephen “Bo” Fletcher and wife, Ashley; daughters, Kara Jackson and Kelly Hutchins; grandchildren, Adam, Alysaa, Andrew, Dylon, Katlyn Jackson, Kimi and Zane Hutchins, and Cameron and Harley Fletcher; great grandchildren, Cody, Bailey, and Joshua; sons George Flynt and wife, Paige, and John C. Chamblin and wife, Ginger; grandson, Jeff Flynt and wife, Candace; great-grandchildren, Max and Naomi Flynt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Flora Craddock Fletcher.

Pallbearers will be Joe Petty, Joe McClurkin, Clark Gordon, Todd Scanton, Rusty McArthur, and Kelly Klein. Honorary pallbearers will be his golfing buddies.

What sad news..Clinton was a great guy. Was great to see him at our reunion
